Okay Digidesign has jump into the virtual instrument field. Pro Tools has a new friend in the Digidesign Hybrid virtual synthesizer.

The Hybrid was created by the Digidesign Advanced Instrument Research group. It’s a high-definition software synthesizer for Pro Tools® systems that combines the warmth of classic analog waveforms with digital wavetables so you can create that vintage synth sound or something totally new.

The Digidesign Hybrid comes pack with 256 preset patches. It is definitely a tweakers dream. With multiple wave modes, envelope generators, three LFOs and over 20 filters the sky’s the limit. On top of that the Hybrid comes equip with a step squencer for arpeggios or phrase generation. You can have fun with the modulation matrix and morph sounds on the fly.

The Digidesign Hybrid is built by Digidesign for the Digidesign Pro Tool line so hopefully it will provide the best performance and reliability. The Hybrid should give sound designers, composers, and laptop musicians plenty to work with. Check out the accelerated Pro Tools videos for it on Digidesign site.
